Clubs
Dear Parents,
We will begin Thrasher Clubs the first week of October. The students are allowed to join one club. We are providing some information which will help you decide which club best interests your child. Information and sign up sheets are posted outside the sponsors’ doors.
Book Club
4th Grade Book Club will meet on Tuesdays at lunch in the library from 11:35 – 12:10. Please bring your lunch to the library. We will read one book per month and enjoy discussions, book reviews, and author studies as we devour each title. A selection of the titles will be at the first meeting. Students should be agreeable to purchasing a paperback version if we don’t have enough for a “class” set. Club is sponsored by Pam Johnston, Librarian and Leslie Vaccaro.
3rd grade Book Adventure Club will meet on the 2nd Monday of every Month starting in October. We will meet in the library from 3:10 – 4:00pm. All students should be picked-up by 4:15 in front of the school or go to after - care. Students will sign a permission slip to join the book club. We will read one book title per month and have lively discussion and activities related to each book. The students must agree to purchase their own paperback copy of each title as needed. Many times we have enough books in the building or they are available from the Signal Mountain Library.
Book club will be sponsored by Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Lockwood, and Mrs. Kennedy.
Chess Club
The chess club meets every Tuesday in the library from 3:10-4:00 and is open to 3rd-5th graders. The sponsors are Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Bautista, and Mrs. Johnson.
Creative Crafting Club
Creative crafting will be geared toward fun ways for girls to create their own accessories and gifts. The club will meet in Mrs. Crosby's classroom on the first Thursday of every month from 3:10-4:00. Fourth and fifth grade girls are welcome. The sponsors are Mrs. Crosby, Miss Gardner, and Mrs. Guagenti.
Good News Club
The students will have fun as they learn from God’s Word: Bible lessons, missionary stories, activities, singing, and much more. The Good News Club meets every Wednesday in the music room from 3:10-4:00 and is open is all grades. The sponsors are Mrs. Julian and Mrs. Walter.
Drama Club
Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Lillie will be conducting the fourth & fifth grade drama club. This will be held on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:00 in Mrs. Lillie's room. The students will be focusing on different types of plays as well as creating the set for our production.
Fashion Club
Come learn about the history of fashion and the fashion industry, apply rules to age appropriate clothing, and produce a fashion show with pieces they make. The club meets every Monday from 3:10-4:00 in the art room and is open to 3rd-5th graders. The sponsors are Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Leonard. There will be an informational meeting on Monday, September 26th.
Robotics Club
The students will make Lego robots then will compete at Tennessee Tech. University in Cookeville with their robots. The club meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:10-5:00 and is open to 5th graders. The sponsors are Mr. McEvoy, Miss Bell, and Mrs. Mann.
Thrasher Environmental Club (TEC)
The students learn about the environment and conservation. The 3rd grade meets the first Tuesday, 4th grade meets the second Tuesday, and 5th grade meets the third Tuesday of the month in the art room from 3:10-4:05. The sponsors are Mrs. Niedbala, Mrs. Griswold, and Mrs. Garvich.
