mountain education fund

The MEF is a non-profit organization created in 2008 by the merger of two volunteer-led community groups, the Mountain Education Fund and the Founders Fund. The mission of the MEF is to provide ongoing financial support to achieve and maintain excellence in Signal Mountain K-12 public education. THe MEF brings parents, community leaders and citizens together for an organized and united fundraising effort while connecting with principals and educators to identify the needs for each of the SM schools.
The MEF is improving the quality of public education by filling the gaps in county funding and providing teachers and students with cutting-edge resources for success in the classroom. Funds raised by the MEF support teacher salaries, programs, technology, art, music, athletics, extra-curricular activites and other needs at Nolan Elementary, Thrasher Elementary and Signal Mountain Middle/High School.

Book Fair and Coupon Books
Reading is Out of this World...
Save the date... 2011 Book Fair will be held November 7 – 11! We will be traveling to the Book Fair, and beyond, blasting off with a special assembly on November 4.
Family Night will be held the evening of November 8, and Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day (with extended hours and activities) will be held during the school day of November 10.
Book Fair is one of Thrasher PTA's biggest fundraisers and significantly builds Thrasher's and individual teachers' libraries. The event increases the children's excitement for reading: last year, Thrasher students read over 100,000 minutes during Book Fair!
We need lots of volunteers to make this a successful event. We will be in touch with volunteers who indicated they are willing to help on the PTA blue form shortly after school starts. Please contact Kelly Drayer, Jamie Rehm, or Shannon Farr for more information or if you want to add your name to the volunteer list.
2011 Kids First Coupon Book
Planning for the 2011 Kids First Coupon Book fundraiser is well underway. This year we have committed to sell 4000 books, with the proceeds being used for laptops, promethean updates, iPads/tablets, printers and leveled texts. The dates of the sale will be September 9th - 23rd. There will be five turn in days with the top seller each of those days being awarded a prize. There will also be a grand prize winner! We are still in need of volunteers! If you would like to help with this fundraiser, please contact Candy Clark at run4kids@comcast.net or Leslie Kelly at ldaviskelly@comcast.net.
